Chapter 8

“I guess it’s time to get back to work. Thanks for joining us for lunch. I’m having a hard time ending this time we shared, but duty calls. Would it be too soon to ask if we can do this again, possibly dinner tonight?” Ken asked the others.

Lynn looked to her sisters for support, “What do you think, girls?”

Joy and Beth could read the hope that showed through Lynn’s eyes. Both answered at the same time, “Yes.”

Beth added, “We were planning on seeing a show tonight after dinner. Would you and Tyler like to join us?”

Tyler squeezed the hand he was holding as he smiled his answer to Beth. Ken’s eyes shone bright with anticipation of what the evening could hold for him and Lynn. He happily agreed to spend the evening with the three sisters and Tyler too, of course.

“Tonight, dinner and the show are on me, but for now, Ken and I have some work to do.” Looking at Beth, he added, I’ll call you later and we’ll set the time for Ken and I to pick you ladies up,” Leaning down, he kissed Beth’s lips before leaving.

Joy couldn’t help but tease her sister a little, “It’s not fair. Tyler is here to hold your hand and give you those kisses that put such a big smile on your lips. It makes me miss Michael just a little.”

Laughing, Beth reminded her sisters they have some shopping to do as they head to their car.

The three women had fun shopping and Lynn and Joy actually bought a few items. Overall it was a wonderful day. Now they have to get back to the condo and relax a little before having to get ready for dinner and the show. As they got close to their car parked in the shopping center’s parking lot, Beth could see something stuck under the windshield wipers. She reached up and pulled the paper off thinking it’s advertising for something in the area, but as she glanced around she doesn’t see any papers on any of the other cars in the lot. While Lynn unlocked the car doors, Beth opened the note and read aloud, “You have what’s mine. If you don’t want to end up like your friend, you will give it to me. You will see me soon.”

Nervously she glanced around the parking lot, Beth saw nothing or no one strange. What could this person want? Neither herself, nor her sisters have anything that belongs to someone else. Beth’s mind was working overtime as she climbed into the car where her sisters were waiting for her.

“Let’s get to the condo, girls. We have some figuring out to do. We are not going to be victims. We are going to help solve this, so we can get on with our time together.” Beth firmly told both of the others.

“Do you think we are ever going to have a sister’s week again that is just filled with laughs and just us sharing a week of fun and relaxing?” Joy asked.
